Falls among elderly individuals have continued to be a major challenge for health care providers. Individuals hospitalized for falls incur a higher health cost compared to other hospitalized patients. Despite efforts to reduce the number of falls through the use of some strategies, fall rates continue to be high in hospitals. According to Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and a recent summary performed by the Bureau of Health Care Safety and Quality (2011), Massachusetts acute care hospitals reported 57% of serious reportable events as environmental; 98% of those serious events were attributed to patient falls (Nientimp Peterson, 2012). There is limited research that supports the idea that hourly rounding performed by nurses has an impact on reducing patient falls (Lascom, 2015). The interview board recommended an enhancement in his salary by Rs. 500 per month more than his present salary at his request. Mr. Sashidhar was very happy to achieve this and he was congratulated by a number of people including his previous employer for his brilliant interview performance and good luck. Mr. Sashidhar joined G. K. Electronics Ltd. on 21st January, 1996 with a great enthusiasm. He also found his job to be quite comfortable and challenging one and he felt it was highly prestigious to work with this company during the formative years of his career. He found his superiors as well as subordinates to be friendly and cooperative. But this climate did not live long. After one year of his service, he slowly learnt about a number of unpleasant stories about the company, management, the super ior-subordinate relations, rate of employee turnover, especially at higher level. But he decided to stay on as he promised several things to the management in the interview. He wanted to please and change the attitude of management through diligent performance, firm commitment and dedication. He started maximizing his contributions and management got the impression that Mr. Sashidhar has settled down and will remain in the company. After sometime, the superiors started riding over Mr. Sashidhar. He was overloaded with multifarious jobs. His freedom in deciding and executing was cut down to size. He was ill-treated on a number of occasions before his subordinates. His colleagues also started assigning their responsibilities to Mr. Sashidhar. Consequently there were imbalances in his family life, social life and organization life. But he seemed to be calm and contented. Management felt that Mr. Sashidhar had the potential to hear with many more organization responsibilities. It was quite surprising to the General Manager to see the resignation letter of Mr. Sashidhar along with a check equivalent to a monthaâ⠬â⠢s salary one fine morning on 18th January, 1998. The General Manager failed to convince Mr. Sashidhar to withdraw his resignation. The General Manager relieved him on 25th January, 1998. The General Manager wanted to appoint a committee to go into the matter immediately, but dropped the idea later. The inference from the above is very clear. The management had no strategy of retaining capable employees by giving them proper treatment and responsibilities. They also have not laid out any HR policy of defining area of responsibility for executives or staff. It appears any body in the firm can pass any work to their colleagues and even management is also not bothered about over loading a capable person willing to undertake challenging tasks with responsibility. If the above defects can be corrected by the management and senior managers they can retain capable managers or executives and the manpower turnover may come down and the companyaâ⠬â⠢s reputation with regards to human resources will go up. Out of the information discussed in class I have realised that academic research is a complex procedure and it needs to be handled effectively in order to get favorable research outcomes. From the research that I had to do which is related to reward systems and employee motivation I have realised the importance of using the suitable methods to complete the study. As per Collis Hussey (2013) an academic research is mainly based on its choice of methods and during the course of research of employee motivation I had got the opportunity to understand and learn the ways to choose the right kind of method to complete a particular study. My approach towards the research study has been highly facilitated by the discussion regarding the essentiality of research philosophy, design, approach and strategy. Through the discussions in class I have acquired the knowledge of these key methods which will help me to organise and complete further research studies. The present study has helped to discuss the different aspects of research which has helped me to understand to do an academic research in a professional manner which will help me understand the nerve of a professional research (Garrison, 2011). My ability to conduct an academic research would surely change as from conducting this research I have gained idea about being ethical in nature and I have also understood the importance of gathering quantitative and qualitative data and their essentiality from the context of the research. For the present research I have had to frame questionnaires that have given me fair bit of knowledge about gathering research data which woul d help me to complete research effectively. A lot of contemplation goes into completing a particular research and I have developed that required skill to contemplate and invest profound thinking in a research especially to make effective decisions regarding the choice of methods applied in the completion of a particular research. I have developed skills to interpret given data as well as have an effective hold on analysing data in a descriptive data. As per Saunders et al., (2012) research work is a complicated procedure and understanding the different sections of research is essential and I have been able to do that with the help of the regular discussion and practical research works that I have been involved with. I have gathered ample knowledge about being right conceptually and the present research has helped me to do this. I have always thought that academic research are mostly done to let the student understand the procedure of the research but now I have realised that it not only helps to prepare a student for researches but also helps to get favorable outcomes which are extremely important for the student. As a student I have been able to understand the purpose of academic research and so, it has also helped me to be on the right track and most importantly helped me to grasp the overall knowledge of f raming an academic research which will help me in the long run.
